So, you’re about to go on the stage without having the slightest clue what will really happen. How do you feel about it? Are you afraid to make mistakes? But.. we all make mistakes. As improvisers it’s even something we’re expected to do. To be able to do that we need to find that inner freedom to let ourselves make mistakes and instead of punishing ourselves for them, start to embrace them. The objective of this workshop is to worship the mess we’ve created and make us feel good about it!

Rahel is a thoughtful and dynamic improviser from Estonia. She loves teaching both children and adults and her workshops have been appreciated in Europe but also Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Anatomy of a SceneLevel: Easy

München (to be announced)
10:00 - 16:00
Workshop auf Englisch Workshop in English

In this workshop we will work on the required basic steps to build an Improvised scene in a theatrical way. Starting with the concept of Platform, we will guide the participants through every level of the creation of a scene, from the first lines or actions: WHO, WHERE, WHAT. In order to create a solid scene, Improvisers will need to quickly “agree” on the basic information first, before moving forward to scene development. Once the platform is settled we head to the “now what” moment, where comes the concept of the Second step, using the underlying relationship status below the surface: the HOW and WHY. This will allow the scene and the characters to be well structured, gain depth and draw a path to an easier narrative and plenty of choices for the Improvisers to play with.

Actors on an improv stage can’t work as individuals. They must work as a well-oiled machine, as one organism, as being the tentacles of the same octopus, each having a brain of its own, but uses it in combination and harmony with the rest. In order to achieve that, we need to work on trust, communication, connection and support. That’s exactly what we’re going to do during this course. Improv is easier when we share it with people we trust.
